Howard J. Holmes CFA, DBA

is the principal of Holmes Investment Management, Inc. and an Investment Adviser Representative. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charter holder (CFA®), has a Master of Science in Finance degree from Bentley University, holds a Certificate in Advanced Management from Babson College, and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Howard teaches part time graduate courses in finance at Boston University and has also been a grader for the CFA® exams.  Teaching has been a major way Howard gives back to those in the surrounding communities and develop the future generations love and understanding of finance.

Howard has been an active adviser at Holmes Investment Management since 1999 and has proudly grown his business through relationships created over the years.

Prior to becoming an investment adviser, he was a fixed income analyst (credit, private placement) for a large international insurance company. Prior to that he held various positions in finance at Dunkin' Donuts (Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. (DNKN) corporate offices near Boston.

Akhil Shah

Investment Analyst
Akhil Shah is an Investment Analyst at Holmes Investment Management. He works closely with clients to develop financial and retirement plans, implement investment portfolios, and align long-term strategies with individual goals and risk profiles. 
 
Alongside his advisory work, Akhil contributes to the firm’s investment research and model portfolio development. His interests include systematic investing and studying how information flows shape investor expectations and market behavior. His research has explored sentiment-driven equity signals using transformer-based models to analyze corporate disclosures and their relationship with stock returns. 
 
Akhil holds a background in economics and is particularly interested in how fiscal and monetary policy influence financial markets and investor behavior. Akhil has also passed the Series 65 examination and is a licensed investment advisor. 

Amir Alamir CQF

Senior Quantitative Analyst & Investment Advisor Representative

Amir Alamir is a Senior Quantitative Analyst at Holmes Investment Management, where he supervises factor research, systematic portfolio construction, and the development of quantitative strategies within the firm’s separately managed account (SMA) portfolios. His work involves researching and implementing equity factor models, evaluating signals, and building systematic frameworks that support portfolio allocation and risk management. 

Amir applies statistical modeling, numerical methods, and algorithmic techniques to study market behavior, evaluate factor performance, and improve portfolio robustness across varying market conditions. 

He is also committed to knowledge sharing and academic engagement. Amir serves as a guest lecturer at Boston University, contributing to graduate-level discussions on derivatives, quantitative trading, and modern financial markets. 

In addition to holding a CQF, Amir has cleared the Series 65 examination and is registered as an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR), enabling him to advise clients on investment strategies and portfolio management within the regulatory framework governing investment advisory firms.
